Across the decades, UOB has maintained a strong focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), deeply appreciating their vital role in driving regional economies.
When the COVID-19 pandemic first broke out, UOB launched a S$3 billion relief assistance programme in early 2020, offering financial support to SMEs at the first sign of economic uncertainty.
Our dedicated initiatives to help businesses who faced challenges supported more than 20,000 SMEs across the region, enabling many businesses to continue operating through difficult times.
In recognition of these efforts, UOB was named the World's Best Bank for SMEs at the 2021 Euromoney Global Awards for Excellence. The award recognised the Bank’s ability to provide tailored solutions and regional expertise during a critical period.
The Bank has continued to be recognised for its total SME solutions and was again named by Euromoney as the World's Best, Asia’s Best and Singapore’s Bank for SMEs in 2024, the first in the history of the award programme.
UOB has also focused on helping SMEs adapt to a changing landscape by encouraging digital transformation, enabling access to cross-border opportunities and to move on to the sustainable business pathway. These initiatives reflect UOB’s continued commitment to the long-term growth and resilience of SMEs across the region.
