UOB is committed to developing future talent through initiatives like the U Unleash Programme (UUP) and the Wee Cho Yaw Future Leaders’ Award.

UOB Deputy Chairman and CEO Mr Wee Ee Cheong, and Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, oversee the signing of the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Institutes of Higher Learning and UOB.

Launched in October 2023, UUP provides polytechnic and ITE students with year-long internships across key banking units, including UOB Private Bank and Group Technology.

Participants gain practical experience, structured training and potential full-time roles, reflecting the Bank’s focus on nurturing industry-ready professionals.

Since 2015, the Wee Cho Yaw Future Leaders’ Award has empowered high-potential yet underprivileged students at NUS and NTU with financial support and leadership development. Backed by a S$50 million fund, this scholarship honours Dr Wee’s belief in education as a catalyst for social progress.

Beyond tuition, recipients gain access to UOB’s professional network, connecting with mentors and industry experts to build vital leadership skills.

Through such programmes, we work to take a holistic approach to preparing Singapore’s next generation for meaningful contributions to the nation’s economic and social development.
