In 2019, UOB embarked on a transformative journey by launching TMRW, ASEAN's first mobile-only digital bank designed specifically for the region's burgeoning millennial population.
Recognising the preferences of millennials – who favour mobile platforms for their banking activities – we introduced TMRW in Thailand in February 2019. The goal was to provide a seamless, engaging and personalised banking experience, aligning with the lifestyles of the first fully digital generation.
TMRW's innovative approach centres on a user-friendly mobile interface, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to offer tailored financial insights and solutions. UOB was the first bank in Southeast Asia to introduce AI-driven personalised insights – on TMRW in Thailand in 2019, and in Singapore that same year under UOB Mighty, the predecessor of TMRW.
Other notable firsts for TMRW in Thailand were a chatbot for customer service and real-time expense tracking capabilities.
TMRW marked a significant departure from conventional banking norms in Southeast Asia, as it removed the need for physical branches. The success in Thailand paved the way for TMRW's expansion into Indonesia in 2020. It was launched in Singapore in 2021 and Malaysia in 2023.
