Vitalità

Vitalità reflects the vital energy of the universe known as ‘qi’. Embodying the ‘qi’ in her visceral line of this sculpture, Anna Chiara Spellini has endowed the form of Vitalità with the vigour of being ready to move upward and forward. Commissioned by UOB, and part of the UOB Art Collection, Vitalità is a life force that creates newness, growth, good fortune and abundance for all.

Homage To Newton

In the 17th century, Sir Isaac Newton discovered the law of gravity. Legend tells us that the origin of this most important and fundamental physical law was initiated by the falling of an apple, represented in the present work by the ball falling from the right hand.

Salvador Dali, one of the most important surrealist artists, takes the liberty to go even further in paying Homage To Newton by opening up the torso of the figure and suspending the heart to indicate “open-heartedness”. The open head represents an “open-mind”. These are two necessary qualities for the discovery of important natural laws as well as for success of all human endeavours.

The bird is traditionally associated with peace and serenity. This three-dimensional Bird by Botero also signifies the joy of living and the power of optimism.

Botero’s sculpture allows one the pleasure of caressing reality. There is a sensual complicity that the artist has with his creation which is shared with the public.

RE/EMERGENCE showcase by Erica Wee
End your journey with art

RE/EMERGENCE
A self-taught artist, Erica Wee works mainly with acrylic and oil. Her art captures the realistic nature of her subjects, interjected with an abstract touch - so they are traditional, yet styled with a daring modern slant; realistic, yet juxtaposed with a dramatic edge. The results are bold, uplifting “statement artworks” on huge canvases which are as energetic and vivacious as the artist herself.

RE/EMERGENCE is Erica’s first solo exhibition and of great significance in her journey as an artist. Having lived away from her home of Singapore for the past 15 years and only just returned last year, the exhibition marks her re-emergence on the Singapore art scene. What she has achieved and how her art has matured from living abroad is just the beginning. This exhibition pays homage to her journey since picking up the brush and coming into her own.

Plenir-air with Nature showcase by Wong Hai
Plein-air with nature

An accomplished artist, Wong Hai can expertly capture both cityscape and nature scenes in his artworks. He enjoys painting plein-air, which is the act of painting outdoors in the natural environment, as it fills him with energy. In this exhibition, we step into his delicate observations of the flora and fauna in Singapore, from the heartlands at neighbourhood parks to the wildlife at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserves.
